I always think about my grandmother. She had a passion for medicine. Her dream was to become a doctor. Even her surname was Aptekar’ (pharmacist in Russian). She had to make a hard choice. Enter the medical school or become a wife to my grandfather and leave Moscow. She chose the second option. And all her life she reproached my grandfather for making her choose. She was not as fulfilled as she could be if she had followed her calling.
But let's admit. Times were different. Especially for women. Now. Many of us do not have to sacrifice anything. Do not have to face hard choices and yet somehow we struggle to dream big. I meet so many women who are not doing what they love even as a hobby. And I always hope that one day they will.
